MHRD – NCERT had conducted the National Achievement Survey 2017 (NAS -17) in the grades –III, V & VIII all over India. In West Bengal 3871 schools were involved in this survey whose State Report Card for the state of West Bengal has been shared by NCERT for a preliminary review of performance.
The Hon’ble MIC, School Education Department, GoWB directed SCERT (WB) to take up a study to find out the reasons behind the performance of our state vis-a-vis the learning outcomes delineated by NCERT for the grades III,V & VIII in which NAS-17 was conducted. The Hon’ble MIC has particularly asked to keep in view the extent of alignment followed in our state curriculam, Text books, Teaching Methodology etc. with the learning outcomes on which NAS-2017 was conducted.
SCERT (WB) has prepared a proposal for the study and subsequently it has approved by the Department of School Education. SCERT has constituted research team members. As per the approved plan SCERT has started the activity by organising a 3 day workshop from 25.04.18 to 27.04.18.This study is a time- bound, within a period of three months from April 2018.
